Intikhab Alam became Pakistan Coach

Pakistan Australian coach Geoff Lawson was dismissed as Pakistan coach 15 months into his two year contract. This dismisal came after 3 days when new elected PCB chairman Ejaz Butt said that he will be retained untill 2009 and his contract will not be renewed. After the sacking of Lawson's PCB elected Intihab Alam as pakistan first team coach. Pakistan cricket fans quiet happy with move because Intihab Alam was the team manager when Pakistan won the world cup in 1992.

Intihab Alam known as skipi (captain) to pakistani players and fans palyed for pakistan as an all rounder between 1959-1975. He represented the country in 47 test matches. He had a long spell in english county circuit between 1969-1981 for surrey.

The length of Intihab contract has not been decided yet but PCB chairman said they would like to retain his services for the next two years. Intihab Alam will bring deciplain into the game. A home grown coach will be good for players and their will be no comunication barriers. Former Pakistan test player javed mianded has also welcomed the move. Miandad has always been against the concept of hiring overseas coaches to coach Pakistan team.
